When I view my stationery on the web site it seems to have different colors from my original logo design, why?

When viewing your stationery on a website, the colors might appear different from your original logo design due to several reasons:

  1. Color Models (RGB vs. CMYK):
    • Digital screens use the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color model, which is optimized for emitting light.
    • Printing uses the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) color model, which is based on ink and absorbs light.
This difference can cause colors to appear less vibrant or slightly altered when switching between digital and printed formats.
  2. Monitor Settings:
    • The way colors appear on a monitor can vary depending on brightness, contrast, and color calibration. Not all screens display colors the same way.
  3. Web Compression:
    • When uploading files to a website, image compression or conversion to web-optimized formats like JPEG or PNG may slightly alter the colors.
  4. Lighting and Material Differences:
    • Printed materials reflect ambient light, which can also affect color perception. In contrast, digital displays are backlit, making colors appear differently.
  5. File Format Issues:
    • Saving files in incorrect color profiles (e.g., RGB for printing or CMYK for web use) can cause noticeable differences in color accuracy.

Solution:
To minimize discrepancies, ensure your logo and stationery files are properly optimized for their intended use. Use web-optimized versions for digital formats (RGB) and print-optimized versions (CMYK) for physical stationery. Additionally, calibrate your monitor and use professional tools like soft-proofing to preview printed results.
